Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton both benefited from their summer transfer swap involving Jan Paul van Hecke and Luka Vuskovic, according to Hotspur HQ. The swap was initially met with criticism, particularly towards Roberto De Zerbi for spending money and a younger player for Van Hecke, who had one year left on his contract. However, both players have performed well since the transfer. Vuskovic has continued to play at a high level for Brighton.
Van Hecke has been even better than Vuskovic by some metrics and has been a major upgrade for Tottenham, displaying his defensive quality and unique passing ability. He is considered the best progressive passer in the Premier League and has helped Spurs get more out of new captain Micky van de Ven due to their chemistry. Van Hecke's performance has been notable in dominant wins, including a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
The transfer has been seen as a win for both clubs as Brighton gained a highly-regarded young player in Vuskovic, who is dynamic and helping the team significantly, while Tottenham acquired a proven player in Van Hecke who fits De Zerbi's system and is comfortable in possession and creating chances from deep. The situation at Brighton also seems to suit Vuskovic better, with less pressure and a more counterattacking system.

Source context
Tottenham Hotspur grabbed a lot of headlines and turned a lot of heads over the summer transfer window when they essentially swapped one of the biggest defensive gems in world football in Luka Vuskovic plus cash to Brighton for Jan Paul van Hecke, an older player with one year left on his contract coming off a pretty disappointing season for the Seagulls. And since Vuskovic started the year hot for a Brighton side that looks like a sleeper Premier League title contender, Roberto De Zerbi got a lot of stick for paying any price to bring his prodigal son home with him to N17, spending money and a younger and arguably better player for someone just because he liked his system fit more. And by extension, both center backs have come out winners, too.
