The last two weeks saw an increasing barrage of questions aimed at Xabi Alonso over his usage (or lack of) of Estevao. The Chelsea boss had to continually bat away questions about when the youngster would get a chance – because he didn’t want to reveal that he was already planning to use him against Man U on Saturday.
According to Kieran Gill’s Chelsea Confidential piece for the Daily Mail, it was all about the opposition. Alonso and his coaches are worried about Estevao matching Premier League teams physically.
