Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has offered an update on James Maddison’s condition following his latest injury setback against Chelsea. Despite being a doubt for this weekend’s clash against Chelsea, Roberto De Zerbi handed Maddison another start as Tottenham looked to make it back-to-back victories and end their eight-year winless run at Stamford Bridge.

However, Maddison’s evening was cut short in the 51st minute when he went down injured and was forced off, with Conor Gallagher replacing him. It was a worrying sight for Tottenham given Maddison’s fitness struggles in recent times.

Since returning from an ACL injury at the back end of last season, the midfielder has suffered several minor knocks that have prevented him from enjoying a consistent run of games.
