French newspaper L’Equipe delivered brutal verdicts on Lens following their 9-1 home defeat against Como in the Champions League, calling the team ‘pathetic’ and rating five starters 1/10.
Como broke several records with their historic 9-1 Champions League win over Lens on Wednesday. The Lariani became, among other things, the first Italian club to score nine goals in a single match in a European competition and secured the largest-ever away victory in the Champions League.
Safe to say French media didn’t take Lens’ defeat too well. Today’s front page of L’Équipe sums up the mood around the team well. The French newspaper used just one word to describe the team’s performance against Como: ‘Ridicules,’ which can well be translated into ‘pathetic.’
