From the source

Manchester United’s recruitment has spent long enough searching for glamour that the appeal of utility now carries a certain romance of its own. According to TEAMtalk, United are tracking both Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta, a pair of Crystal Palace forwards whose profiles speak less to marketing and more to function, depth and tactical range.

Sarr is the more delicate case. Palace have offered the Senegal international a new contract, his camp are understood to be content with the terms, and yet the agreement remains unsigned.

It creates a pocket of uncertainty, and in modern football uncertainty is often the first invitation to suitors. At 28, Sarr sits in that awkward bracket where clubs must decide whether they are buying peak performance or residual value.
