Julian Ward's first task as sporting director of the club will be to address the giant midfield elephant in the room at Anfield.For the last few years, Liverpool have been trying to fill the void left behind by Fabinho back in 2023 when he departed the club.Liverpool have tried to sign so many defensive midfielders over the years to no avail.
It started with Aurelien Tchouameni who joined Real Madrid.Then there was the whole Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo debacle. We all know how that ended as both of them joined Chelsea and Liverpool brought in Wataru Endo.After that, Martin Zubimendi was a target but he preferred the mountains of San Sebastian before joining Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
