From the source

Aston Villa began the match trying to take advantage of their home ground, as Manchester City looked nervous in the early moments, with Gianluigi Donnarumma even giving away a corner from the new eight second rule.

As Marc Guehi failed to control a switch made by Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson had a free charge towards the City penalty area, cutting inside from the left and scoring the opener with his right within the opening six minutes.

Iliman Ndiaye tried to respond quickly with a solo run down the right, but saw his curled effort stopped by Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki - the first of three saves from the Villa shot stopper in the first-half - who also denied Rayan Cherki in the penalty box and Abdukodir Khusanov from distance.
