Jay Bothroyd didn't hold back his criticism of Leon Goretzka in Aston Villa's Carabao Cup defeat to Bournemouth on Wednesday. The Villans were knocked out of the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after suffering a 3-0 defeat to the Cherries on the south coast.
An early goal from Amine Adli set the tone for the hosts, as Villa failed to equalise before the break, despite having several chances. Marco Bizot was left with his head in his hands in the 51st minute after Lewis Cook's effort squirmed in from a tight angle before Alvaro Rodriguez tucked away Bournemouth's third.
Unai Emery will now be fully focused on the Champions League and the Premier League for the rest of the campaign, as his side suffered their first loss in eight games at the hands of Bournemouth.
