Alexis Mac Allister’s future at Liverpool has become a burning topic so far this season after the midfielder returned to the form which saw him nominated for the PFA Player of the Year in 2025.

Many supporters had written Mac Allister off after a dismal 2025/26 campaign, but he has roared back to life under Andoni Iraola, leading to a clamour for him to sign a new contract.

Reports have suggested that Liverpool have opened talks with Mac Allister over an extension, and when asked about any developments in a new interview with Sky Sports on Friday, the Argentine hinted that a switch in sporting director may hold the key to his future.
