From the source
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is unlikely to extend his contract beyond next summer, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona monitoring his situation. The Argentina international has entered the final year of his existing agreement at Old Trafford, which expires in June 2027.
United retain an option to extend his contract by another 12 months, but neither party currently appears inclined to activate that clause. According to Spanish publication AS, Martinez’s relationship with the club has deteriorated significantly following his controversial comments after United’s encounter with Atletico Madrid.
The situation has raised doubts about his long-term future, with a departure increasingly viewed as a possibility ahead of next season. Atletico and Barcelona are understood to be keeping track of developments as they consider potential defensive reinforcements.
